The Keeshond Breeder's Annual is produced by Smiling Dutchman Publications. Smiling Dutchman Publications was started by Sharon Miller and Donna Powell, both long For several years, we had been kicking around the idea of an annual publication similar to the original Breeder's Guide published by the Keeshond Club of America. It's been many years since a publication containing such information was commercially available. In recent years, there have been discussions concerning the lack of a source for information about available dogs, bitches and breeding programs in general. There are dogs with the potential to offer a great deal to the breed, but these dogs are not being heavily campaigned or advertised because owners/breeders may not have the financial means or time to do so. The Keeshond Breeder’s Annual can fulfill that need. Valuable information concerning health test results is missing from most advertising. Anyone breeding Keeshonden today should be looking for dogs that have had all available health tests performed. It is important to produce a source of information containing the necessary statistics, as the Keeshond community needs this information when planning to breed. This data would also be valuable to someone looking to purchase their first Keeshond. The Keeshond Breeder's Annual will not be a place to advertise show wins or brags. It is meant to be a source of valuable information for the reputable Keeshond breeder and owner. We considered several different formats for publishing this guide. With some valuable input from other breeders, we decided on this loose leaf style. This will allow you to arrange and compare information sheets however you prefer. It also enables us to keep costs down in the future, by just supplying new insert pages. Additional binders and replacement binders will also be available separately. As with any publication, we do not guarantee the accuracy of the information provided. Do your homework, talk to the breeders and owners, and verify the information for yourself. We hope this publication, and the online version, will be valuable assets to the Keeshond community and will allow more breeders, exhibitors, and owners to contribute to the future of our wonderful breed. - Sharon Miller and Donna Powell
